The closing conference of the project Step by step, growing with dignity!

The Development and Psychotherapy through Action Association held the closing conference of the project „Step by step, growing with dignity!” on November 23rd. The conference was attended by representatives of the Dolj County Police Inspectorate, the Craiova Juvenile and Youth Detention Center, the Dolj Bar, the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection, the Dolj County School Inspectorate, the schools and town halls of communes and villages involved, as well as representatives from the press.

Now at the end, we are glad that we succeeded:

  • to equip a Mother and child room in the premises of the Craiova Juvenile and Youth Detention Center and a hearing room for minors in the premises of Police Station no. 1 Craiova;
  • to participate in a training course with our Norwegian partner Moreno Huset AS together with 10 trainers and psychologists;
  • to deliver three training courses to professionals from the Dolj County Police Inspectorate, the Dolj Bar and the Craiova Juvenile and Youth Detention Center;
  • to conclude 2 institutional collaboration agreements with the Dolj County School Inspectorate and the Craiova Juvenile and Youth Detention Center;
  • to conclude over 40 regional and national collaboration agreements with secondary schools and high schools where children from rural areas study;
  • to build a therapeutic HUB for emotionally vulnerable children, with a capacity of 45 places to stay, 2 training rooms, own kitchen and 3600 sqm of Sensory Garden;
  • to carry out non-formal educational activities for personal growth, with the main aim of promoting the rights of children for 1207 children and young people from rural areas, from the Craiova Juvenile and Youth Detention Center, within the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection, as well as children and young people with disabilities;
  • to organize 4 trips, Dignity Caravan, to promote the rights of children in Bucharest, Constanța, Brașov, Piatra Neamț, Sibiu, Sebeș, Alba Iulia, Cluj Napoca, Orșova and Timișoara. The 160 emotionally vulnerable children from the countryside, traveling with the Dignity Bus, specially customized and equipped with high-tech technology, met with over 6400 children from the villages and communes of the mentioned cities.

The project receives a grant of 1,926,662 euro from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA and Norwegian Grants 2014-2021, under the Local Development, Poverty Reduction and Increasing Roma Inclusion Program. The aim of the project is to promote respect for the rights of children at the national level.
